Costco, one of the largest retailers in the world, announced a 24-hour complete closure of their stores in the U.S. Their 617 stores will be closed from May 26th to May 27th, when they will resume normal operations. Other services like restaurants, banks, and delivery will also experience closures or schedule changes during this holiday.
Costco is known for their complete closures on holidays such as the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The retail company advises customers to do their shopping before the holiday. Don’t miss the opportunity to do your last-minute shopping to enjoy this date.
What services will be open on Memorial Day 2025?
Although Costco has decided to close their stores, other retailers will be open on May 26th. Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's, and Publix are some of the stores that will be serving customers. However, their hours of operation may change.
If you are looking for restaurants, McDonald's, Olive Garden, Chipotle, and TGI Fridays will also be open on this year's Memorial Day. It is reported that liquor stores are also planning to be open on May 26th. These closures and restrictions will only apply on Memorial Day; branches will reopen normally on May 27th.

For Costco, many services will be closed on Memorial Day. UPS, the shipping company, will pause all their delivery services except UPS Express Critical. FedEx, another shipping company, will suspend almost all their services, but FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Office will be open with modified hours.
Banks like Bank of America, M&T Bank, Wells Fargo, Citibank, and JPMorgan Chase have confirmed that their branches will be closed on Memorial Day. Other branches that will close include Star Bank, ESL Federal Credit Union, and Canandaigua National Bank.
