According to several reports, Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid at the end of the La Liga season to become head coach of Brazil's national football team. After a difficult season, which saw Madrid go out of the UEFA Champions League in the round of 16 and lose the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona, it appears that Ancelotti's exit from the Spanish club can be expected. The Brazilian Football Confederation apparently wants the accomplished manager in place for June friendlies as the squad prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Ancelotti's transfer to Brazil is his second time leaving Real Madrid while leaving behind a strong legacy, including two La Liga Titles, a Copa del Rey, and a UEFA Champions League title. With Brazil's elite talent at his disposal such as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Endrick, Ancelotti will need to quickly implement his ideas and system as there is only a little over a year until the World Cup. You now also have the expectation of quickly achieving success on this stage.

Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid by the end of La Liga

As reported by The Athletic, Ancelotti is set to officially sign a deal for one year managing the Seleção through the North American 2026 FIFA World Cup. After a disappointing elimination in the UEFA Champions League, having been knocked out in both legs in the quarterfinal by Arsenal, the rumors of Ancelotti leaving were gaining smoke. After a loss to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, it seems like the only question left is how Real Madrid announce his departure.

For now, Real Madrid is still in the race for the La Liga title, with one final Clasico against Barcelona scheduled for Sunday, May 11. If the point gap remains the same heading into the match, a win for Los Blancos could narrow the gap to just one point.

According to Fabrizio Romaro, the Brazilian Football Confederation claim they want Ancelotti on the touchline for Brazil's friendlies against Ecuador and Paraguay in June. For this to happen, Ancelotti would need to transition quickly, going from Real Madrid's last match on May 25, to Brazil's first match on June 4. Since the World Cup is just over a year from now, there is little time to mess around implementing his tactics and system.

How many titles will Ancelotti leave Real Madrid?

Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid for the second time, and he has won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, two Supercopa de España, and a UEFA Champions League trophy. He has also won the UEFA Super Cup in 2022 and 2024 and the FIFA Club World Cup. It is anticipated that Real Madrid will have a new manager by the time the Club World Cup comes around, scheduled for the summer.

As Brazil's head coach, Ancelotti will continue to work with players like Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Endrick but will also look to make the most of the talents like Raphinha, Gabriel, Bruno Guimaraes.
