F1 sprint race: Lando Norris wins a rainy and accident-filled race in Miami
The McLaren driver, Lando Norris wins a chaotic race in the rain, which ended under the safety car after multiple incidents on the track.

The Miami Grand Prix saw an unusual sprint race this Saturday, marked by adverse weather conditions, multiple accidents, and a key victory for British driver Lando Norris. The McLaren driver crossed the finish line ahead of his teammate, Oscar Piastri, while Lewis Hamilton, in his first season with Ferrari, completed the podium.
The heavy rain forced a delay to the start of the race and turned the street circuit into a venue prone to errors and crashes. The race concluded under the safety car due to debris on the track, the result of several incidents in the closing laps.
McLaren's advance and key penalties
Lando Norris started the race in third place and quickly climbed to second at the first corner. Later, during a series of pit stops in chaotic conditions, he overtook his teammate Piastri to secure his first sprint win of the season. The result represents a positive turn for Norris after several difficult weekends in the championship.
Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion with Red Bull, received a 10-second penalty for an unsafe release during his pit stop, which eliminated him from the podium. The incident was one of several that affected the final race standings.
Incidents mark shortened race
Rookie Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, who had achieved a historic pole position on Friday, had a difficult race. He lost positions after the start and was hit by Verstappen in the pits. Although he blamed Piastri for an aggressive move at the first corner, the stewards took no action. He finished in tenth place, out of the points.
Other drivers also suffered setbacks. Charles Leclerc crashed before the start and was unable to compete, while Carlos Sainz retired with a puncture. In the closing laps, a collision between Fernando Alonso and Liam Lawson brought out the safety car, bringing to an end a short but action-packed race.
