Shakira’s Colombia concert canceled amid venue safety concerns
Shakira's concert in Medellin, Colombia, has been canceled after stage roof damage raised safety concerns, marking another setback in the singer's ongoing world tour.

Shakira's highly anticipated return to the stage has faced unexpected setbacks, as the singer was recently forced to cancel her concert scheduled for February 24 at Medellin's Atanasio Girardot Stadium due to venue safety concerns. According to event organizers, the roof of the stage sustained significant damage during preparations, posing a potential risk to the artist's safety.
This incident marks the second disruption on Shakira's "Las mujeres ya no lloran" tour, following a cancellation in Peru after the singer received hospital treatment for an abdominal condition. Despite these hurdles, the Grammy-winning Colombian star has successfully kicked off her first global tour in seven years, thrilling fans across Latin America and continuing with performances scheduled in the United States and Canada later this year.
Shakira cancels her concert in Medellin
Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira is currently on her first global tour in seven years, featuring nearly 50 shows across Latin America until June, after which she will head to the United States and Canada.
Event organizer Paramo Presenta announced on social media Friday that the concert scheduled for February 24 at Medellin's Atanasio Girardot Stadium was canceled after the stage roof, assembled by a local production company, suffered damage, posing safety risks to the artist. The organizer expressed hopes of rescheduling the performance.
"During the process of setting up the show scheduled for February 24, the stage roof installed by a local production company suffered damage that put the artist's safety at risk," event organizer Paramo Presenta wrote on social media.
The four-time Grammy winner, aged 48, recently had to cancel another show in Peru due to hospitalization for an abdominal issue. Despite these setbacks, her tour "Las mujeres ya no lloran" (Women Don't Cry Anymore) successfully launched in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month, shortly after she earned the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album.
Earlier this week, Shakira returned to her hometown, Barranquilla, and was warmly received by thousands of fans at the Metropolitano stadium.
As one of the most successful Latin artists ever, Shakira has sold over 90 million records globally. She has upcoming concerts planned in Bogota on Wednesday and Thursday, as listed on her official website.
