Lowe's stores across the nation will be temporarily closed for a full 24 hours this April. This unexpected closure is part of a decision made by the company’s leadership to show appreciation for its hardworking employees.

While the specifics of the closure are yet to be fully discussed, the gesture reflects the company's ongoing commitment to its staff and their well-being, especially during important holiday seasons.

Why will Lowe's stores close for 24 hours in the U.S.?

Lowe's stores nationwide will close for a full 24 hours on April 20, allowing employees to spend Easter with their families. The closure is in appreciation of the workers' ongoing dedication to customer service.

Marvin Ellison, Lowe's chairman and CEO, expressed his pride in the 300,000 associates who provide excellent service throughout the year, saying, "In recognition of our teams' continued hard work, we are pleased to offer them a well-deserved day off to celebrate Easter with their loved ones," as reported by Fox 10 Phoenix.

The stores will close at 10 p.m. local time on April 19 and reopen at 6 a.m. local time on April 21. This marks the fourth consecutive year Ellison has made this decision, allowing employees a break to enjoy the holiday with family. Lowe’s has also closed for holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, although they remain open on other holidays like New Year’s Day, the Fourth of July, and Memorial Day.

Ellison, CEO of Lowe's for six years, has continued to emphasize the company's commitment to supporting both employees and communities.
