Instead, Obama emphasized her desire to make decisions independently, focusing on her future, how she spends her time, and prioritizing her own happiness.

While o Sophia Bush's "Work in Progress" podcast, Michelle Obama laughed at the idea of that her decisions were connected to any marital strife. "They couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself," referring to her decision to reject the idea of running for president.

She also highlighted the unrealistic expectations often placed on women, especially when they make decisions that are solely in their best interest.

Michelle Obama is now prioritizing personal time and independence

While she steps away from the political spotlight, Michelle Obama revealed she is focusing on herself and how she wants to spend her time. She enjoys the opportunity to say "yes" to spontaneous opportunities, like traveling with friends or enjoying leisure time without feeling tied down by obligations.

However, she is still active in speaking engagements and projects, but has set stronger boundaries over her personal time. Michelle highlights the importance to make decisions about her own well-being. “If not now, when?” she stated.
