On April 24, 2025, Netflix experienced a significant outage, leaving millions of subscribers unable to access the streaming service. The issue affected users across major cities in the U.S. including New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Chicago.
According to reports from Downdetector, the streaming platform began experiencing disruptions around 2pm ET.

Millions of users across the U.S. reported that they were unable to access to their accounts, as they were met with error codes when trying to log in or connect to their favorite shows. Some users even reported being signed out of their accounts without warning and receiving repeated prompts to “try again”.

Other users reported issues with incorrect profiles showing up or being unable to access their personalized content.
Netflix acknowledged the issue and worked on a fix
While Netflix responded to the outage by acknowledging the problem and stating “We are aware of the ongoing issue and are actively working to fix it,” many were not satisfied by this as wait times for chat support were reported to be longer than usual.
With over 300 million subscribers globally, Netflix is the most prominent streaming giant. Just in the U.S. there are more than 81 million users, and as expected, the outage frustrated many of them.
