A 7-year-old boy and his younger sister were found safe after taking their family car on a joyride to McDonald's, covering 10 miles before crashing.

In Ogden, Utah, a 7-year-old boy decided to take his younger sister on a joyride in the family car, reportedly on a quest to get a Happy Meal in McDonald's.
The incident unfolded on April 27, when police responded to reports of a reckless driver, only to find a disabled vehicle that had crashed into a parking strip. To their surprise, the young driver and his sister were found unharmed nearby.
The kids' joyride to McDonald's
According to the authorities, the boy had driven almost 10 miles from his home in Clearfield in an attempt to get to McDonald's to purchase the Happy Meal. The kids' mother, Whitney Bush, woke up that morning to find her car and her children missing, just to later learn about the crash.

In a statement to ABC4, she told the news outlet, “I don’t think anybody wakes up in the morning or goes through their day thinking their 7-year-old is going to play ‘Grand Theft Auto’ with their vehicle.”
Ogden Police decision: no charges for young driver
While the mother made very clear that her son would probably be grounded "for the rest of his life", she also said that even though he had his money prepared for the Happy Meal, he never made it to the restaurant
Ogden Police also cleared that due to the young age of the driver, no charges would be pursued.
