A tragic incident occurred over the weekend at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, Nevada, when a 7-year-old girl was killed by a falling boulder. The child, later identified as Adelyn Grimes from Reno, Nevada, was struck by the boulder around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Despite immediate response and first aid from Diamond Peak Ski Patrol, Grimes succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have ruled the death as an accident, offering their condolences to the family during this difficult time.

Tragic incident at Diamond Peak Ski Resort

A horrible accident happened at Diamond Peak Ski Resort on March 29, northeast of Lake Tahoe, when Adelyn Grimes was struck by a large boulder.

While medical services were quickly alerted, and the resort’s ski patrol promptly arrived to offer first aid while emergency responders were on their way; Adelyn Grimes passed away from the blunt force of her injuries.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has officially announced that there was no foul play involved in the accident and expressed their deepest condolences to the family. Additionally, the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Grimes’ death an accident due to the blunt force of her injuries in her neck and chest.

Diamond Peak Ski Resort responds to the tragedy

In a statement regarding the March 29 accident, the Diamond Peak Ski Resort expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family of Adelyn Grimes and members of the Sugar Bowl race team, and to the entire Lake Tahoe ski racing community; all of whom "have been profoundly saddened by the accident".

They also highlighted the fact that the Incline Village General Improvement District and Diamond Peak Ski Resort are offering support and counseling resources to staff affected by this accident.
