Trump announces plan to rename Veterans Day and V-E Day to celebrate U.S. military victories
President Trump announced plans to rename Veterans Day as "Victory Day for World War I" and V-E Day as "Victory Day for World War II," aiming to celebrate U.S. military victories.

Donald Trump made headlines again with an unusual proposal to rename Veterans Day as "Victory Day for World War I" and May 8 or V-E Day as "Victory Day for World War II." The announcement was made through a post in Truth Social, and it aims to celebrate the U.S.' crucial role in the victory over foes in both wars.
According to Trump, this role has not been sufficiently celebrated and with the pomp it deserved as the United States outshone other nations in terms of strength, bravery, and military brilliance.

V-E Day to be rebranded as 'Victory Day for World War II'
There are two key dates Trump is looking to rename: Veterans Day and V-E Day. The latter one, also known as Victory in Europe Day, is being of particular interest to the president, as he states victory over Nazi Europe would not have been possible without the U.S.

While on his post, Donald Trump "renamed" the holidays, his announcement has not been accompanied by an executive order or anything of the sort. He has not either explained if he intends to make 'Victory Day for World War II' a federal holiday, just like Veterans Day.
Donald Trump's wish for military celebrations
This is not the first time Donald Trump has expressed his wish to elevate military victories and celebrations. Larger and more impressive public displays of military respect are what he has in mind, specifically parades in Washington.
According to President Trump, the U.S. never get to "celebrate anything", and he is looking to change that.
