U.S. Former President Joe Biden reveals Prostate Cancer diagnosis
Just months after stepping down, Joe Biden faces a new and deeply personal challenge, one that could define this next chapter of his life outside the White House.

According to an announcement from his office, former U.S. president Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of prostate cancer. Following a medical exam due to increasing urinary symptoms, a prostate nodule was discovered, and subsequent testing revealed that the cancer has spread to his bones.
Regardless of the malignant diagnosis, the cancer is described to be hormone-sensitive, which may present viable management and treatment possibilities. Biden and his family are consulting with his medical team about next steps. The former president's office has not released specific information about treatment or timeline.
Joe Biden diagnosed with advanced Prostate Cancer amid renewed health concerns
President Joe Biden sought a medical evaluation last week for worsening urinary symptoms. "Last week, President Joe Biden was evaluated for a new finding of a prostate nodule after having worsening urinary symptoms. He was diagnosed on Friday with prostate cancer, with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) and metastasis to the bone," a formal statement said. This is a very serious cancer that takes into consideration the aggressiveness of cancer, but it can also be important to remember that it is hormone-sensitive and may respond to treatment.

Biden, 82, and his family are currently discussing treatment options with his medical team. A source confirmed Biden is currently home in Wilmington, Delaware, but the location of treatment has not been made public. The diagnosis has sparked debate and conversation on Biden's health again, an ongoing concern throughout his presidency due to his age and public appearances.

President Biden's health became an issue again after his unsteady debate performance earlier in June 2024 against Donald Trump.
Since leaving office in January 2025, Biden has been largely out of the public eye, but is slowly emerging back to the public; he was recently on ABC's "The View" and said he "wouldn't accept" the claims made about him of cognitive decline in his last year in office. "They are wrong," Biden said emphatically. "There's nothing to sustain that."
