Nickelodeon finally announces new Avatar spin-off ‘Seven Havens’
The Avatar world continues to grow with these new series set after The Legend of Korra.
Nickelodeon just announced a new addition in the Avatar Universe. 'Seven Heavens' is the name of the spin-off that take place after the events in the series 'The legend of Korra'. The animated series is currently in the works, as 'Avatar' creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are part of the production.
This new series will consist of 26 episodes of 30 minutes each. In addition, it will have two seasons or Books 1 & 2, in Avatar style. This announcement arrives close to 'The Last Airbender' 20th anniversary. The first episode of the animated series premiered on February 21st, 2005.
Which is the plot of Seven Heavens?
Per the official logline, 'Seven heavens' is said to be set in “a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
DiMartino and Konietzko are the co-creators and executive producers on “Avatar: Seven Havens.” Furthermore, Ethan Spaulding is the executive producer and Sehaj Sethi is the co-executive producer. “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” argued DiMartino and Konietzko. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”
What is next in the Avatar universe?
“For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. “We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.”
Seven Heavens is the third animated “Avatar” series. In addition to “The Last Airbender,” Nickelodeon had previously aired “Avatar: The Legend of Korra” back in 2012. In 2014, the fourth and last season came to an end. There is also an animated film that features Aang and the characters from “Last Airbender”, which will be released in theaters on January 2026. The voice cast of that film includes Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza and Eric Nam.
In 2024, Netflix launched a live-action adaptation of “Last Airbender”, but DiMartino and Konietzko exited the series before its release due to creative differences. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of “Last Airbender,” Paramount is launching lots of new “Avatar” content for the fans. This includes digital shorts, live experiences, consumer products as well as interactive games.
