Elle Fanning cast as young Effie Trinket in ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’
Elle Fanning will portray Effie Trinket in Lionsgate’s upcoming film "Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," a prequel taking place 24 years prior to the original series. The movie is set to release on November 20, 2026.

Great news for "The Hunger Games" fans! Elle Fanning has been officially announced as Effie Trinket on the Lionsgate’s "Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," a prequel set 24 years before the first time we meet Katniss and Peeta.
Elle Fanning is set to reprise the role of Elizabeth Banks, who played Effie in the original series.

The actress has had a long acting career with strong performances with powerful female characters such as the empress of Russia, Catherine in the TV show, "The Great", along with her performance with Angelina Jolie as "Aurora" in "Maleficent".
Both characters represent aspects of the Effie Trinket's character, soft with a fierce side, is why she is expected to make a unique interpretation of the role.
