The beloved American chef Anne Burrell has died today, June 17, in New York. According to People, she died in the morning at her home in Brooklyn. Burrell was a fan-favorite on the Food Network, hosting Worst Cooks in America for several years. Her passion for food and her blonde hair led her to become one of the most iconic chefs in the country.
"Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered," Burrell's family said in a statement. "Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal."
Anne Burrell's Career
New York had always been her home, since she was born on September 21, 1969, in Cazenovia. Inspired by her mother and Julia Child, another television chef, Burrell found her passion for cooking at an early age. She studied another career before entering the Culinary Institute of America, graduating in 1996.
After working in high-end restaurants, like Felidia and Savoy, she changed her career path: she began teaching. The Institute of Culinary Education led her to television. She started as a sous chef on Iron Chef America, where she excelled with her charisma, which eventually led to her own program: Secrets of a Restaurant Chef.

Her loved ones also remarked that she was committed to philanthropy. She was part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation's board, an ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and a member of City Harvest's Food Council.
"I feel so lucky to be able to share my true passion in life with others," was a phrase that the New York chef often said.
