Wells Enterprises, or Wells Dairy, voluntarily recalled 22 ice cream and frozen yogurt products distributed to over 100 locations nationwide, due to potential presence of hard plastic pieces. There have been no reported severe injuries. The FDA determined this recall to be Class II, meaning there is a potential risk to health, such as dental damage or chocking,
The affected products include an assortment of well-liked flavors in bulk packaging distributed to restaurants, cafeterias, and food service companies. Consumers are encouraged to be vigilant and to investigate their freezers for any recalled products to immediately stop using, while following Wells Enterprises’ direction on returns and refunds.
Wells Enterprises recalls ice cream products across the U.S.
The recall, initiated on April 25 by the Iowa-based company, has been classified as Class II by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), indicating that while consuming the products may cause temporary or reversible health issues, serious harm is unlikely.
According to Newsweek, the recall involves potential contamination with hard plastic, a material that poses a risk of dental injury or chocking if consumed.
The affected products, sold in 3-gallon containers, were distributed to 103 centers nationwide, including restaurants, cafeterias and food service operations.
Affected items include various flavors and brands, such as private-label and partner-distributed products, with "Best if used by" dates ranging from March to October 2026.

The recall affects numerous flavors and brands, including private-label and partner-distributed products. The single largest affected lot consists of 5,280 tubs of "Vanilla Frozen Yogurt" product.
Though the risk is not deemed life-threatening, the possible ingestion of plastic poses safety concerns.
