McDonald's to close all CosMc's locations less than 2 years after launch
McDonald's is shutting down its beverage-focused CosMc's chain after less than two years. All five CosMc's locations in Illinois and Texas will close by June 2025.

McDonald’s is shutting down its CosMc’s standalone restaurants, less than two years after launching the first location in Illinois in December 2023. The five locations, including four in Texas, will close on a rolling basis.
The CosMc's website notified customers that June 23, 2025 would be their website and app's last day and that all points earned and rewards must be used before this date, or be forfeit.
What is CosMc’s? McDonald's beverage-focused concept
McDonald’s tried to capture the fast-growing beverage market with CosMc’s. The spinoff offered a cafe-style menu featuring "signature" beverages in an exclusive menu, such as: "French Toast Galaxy Latte," a "Pistachio Swirl Shaken Espresso" and an "Island Pick-Me-Up Punch."
They also had many specialty teas, cold coffee and blended beverages, which you could customize with add-ons like bobba and flavor syrups. While the specialty was beverages, CosMc's also sold food items, including breakfast sandwiches, pretzel bites and soft serve, along with some other standard items on the McDonald's menus.
What will happen to McDonald’s beverage strategy?
It looks like the CosMc’s spinoff was not in vain. McDonald’s plans to use insights gained from the CosMc’s pilot to introduce new beverages in upcoming tests at traditional McDonald’s locations across the U.S.
"It allowed us to test new, bold flavors and different technologies and processes – without impacting the existing McDonald’s experience for customers and crew," the company continued.
