This year, both states are presenting programs designed to mitigate the effects of inflation by offering financial relief. New York residents will be able to receive up to US$500, while in California the support amounts to US$725 for those who qualify.
The programs, approved by each state administrations, and they are looking to ease the financial burden on eligible households. In New York, Governor Kathy Hochul led the approval of the financial reimbursement, while in California, the Sacramento Family First program provides essential support for lower-income families.
New York Stimulus Checks: Details and Eligibility
In New York State, stimulus checks are part of the Inflation Refund program. This initiative, approved by Governor Kathy Hochul, uses the overage money generated by the sales tax to provide economic relief to New Yorkers. This program is intended to benefit 8.2 million eligible citizens, a historic number that reflects the state's commitment to its people.
The amount of the refund varies according to reported income: people with annual earnings of up to US$150,000 may receive a maximum of US$300, while couples filing jointly and whose income does not exceed US$300,000 may obtain up to US$500. The program does not require any additional application, as payments will be processed automatically using the method recorded on the last tax return. Although the exact date of the deposit has not been confirmed.

This criterion varies depending on household size and total family income.
