Progressive Furniture to shut down by end of 2025, citing supplier closure and economic challenges
Progressive Furniture, a key supplier to major retailers like Walmart and Home Depot, will cease operations by the end of 2025, attributing the decision to the closure of its primary Mexican supplier and ongoing economic challenges.

Progressive Furniture, a prominent North Carolina-based furniture manufacturer and subsidiary of Sauder Woodworking, has announced plans to cease all operations by the end of 2025.
The decision will result in the layoff of approximately 30 employees at its Claremont distribution center.
Supplier shutdown and economic pressures lead to closure
Progressive Furniture attributes the closure to several factors, but the most important was the fact that its most prominent supplier shut down.
The Mexican supplier accounted for 60% of the product line and the disruption combined with many other economic factors like: tariffs, inflation and a real state market slowdown did not produce the economic atmosphere for a successful business.

Progressive Furniture's commitment to fulfilling orders and supporting employees
Despite all of this, the company has made a commitment to fulfill every order existing and honoring warranties through the end of 2025. They have also said they will help their employees to find another job.
Progressive Furniture has been a significant supplier to major retailers, including Walmart, Home Depot, Target, and Wayfair; and as such, they have not made the decision to close lightly.
Dan Kendrick, president of the company, said in a statement: “We are committed to supporting our employees through this transition and will assist in finding new opportunities where possible.”
