Monica Sementilli, the wife of renowned California hairdresser Fabio Sementilli, was found guilty of his murder after a 10-week jury trial.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney announced the verdict on April 11, 2025, which concluded the tragic case involving the fatal stabbing of Fabio in January 2017.

Monica Sementilli convicted of her husband’s murder
Monica Sementilli was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder with her lover, Robert Louis Baker. According to authorities, Fabio Sementelli was stabbed by Baker multiple times while he was on his patio in Woodland Hills.
The prosecutors called the crime "cold and calculated" as Monica was supposed to get the benefit from the payout of the life insurance. However, she did not get to receive the $1.6 million, as she is currently facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Fabio Sementelli's murder investigation
Initially, police officers were following a home invasion theory. However, this theory was quickly discarded after Sementilli’s expensive Rolex was left behind after the "break-in".
Blood traces and the discovery of Monica's affair with Baker eventually led to the identification of the murderers. Monica was the mastermind behind the crime, while Baker, a convicted sex offender, said: "I murdered him because I wanted her."
