Vance Boelter, the man accused of shooting two Minnesota lawmakers and their partners, was arrested yesterday. Since his arrest last night, authorities have been uncovering new details. A few hours ago, they revealed the text messages the shooter sent to family members after the attack.
The messages read: "Dad went to war last night… I don't want to say more because I don't want to implicate anyone," Boelter wrote to his family, quoting him in a sworn statement to local police.

According to ABC News, Boelter dedicated a message to his wife, expressing regret for the situation in which he endangered his family. "There are no words to explain how sorry I am for this situation… people will come to the house armed and trigger-happy, and I don't want them around," the 57-year-old man commented.

Vance Boelter had his first court appearance today after being found following a two-day nationwide police search. His bail will be set at approximately $5 million, according to CNN and The Minnesota Star Tribune. The defendant will appear in court again on Friday, June 27.
Shooter regretted actions in text to wife; bail set at $5M
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson commented at a press conference that the theory that Boelter showed up at the homes of four different lawmakers on Saturday is gaining more ground.
On the other hand, Minnesota State Senator Ann Rest stated that Boelter was parked outside her home at some point on Saturday and that thanks to the help of the police, his life was saved. "I have been informed that the shooting suspect was parked near my home early Saturday morning. I am very grateful for the heroic work of the New Hope Police Department and its officers. Their quick response saved my life," Rest commented.
