"Nonna" Marjorie, Ariana Grande's beloved grandmother, dies at 99
In 2023, at age 98, Marjorie made history by appearing on the song “Ordinary Thing,” becoming the longest-lived artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ariana Grande's grandmother, Marjorie, has died at 99 years old. The announcement was made on an Instagram Story by Joan Grande, the singer's mother. In 2023, at 98, Marjorie participated in the song "Ordinary Thing," making her the oldest artist to ever appear on the Billboard Hot 100.
“We are devastated to share that the beloved matriarch of our family has passed away. Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones during her last few weeks,” can be read on Joan's Stories. “We thank you for your love, support, and for respecting our privacy as we grieve and celebrate her beautiful, extraordinary life."

Marjorie Grande's impact on Ariana's career
Marjorie Grande was the mother of Joan. The matriarch of the family met the love of her life, Frank Grande, at 11 when she moved to his neighborhood. This, according to a video uploaded to Ariana's official YouTube channel, titled "Frank Meets Babe," where the two elders talked about how they fell in love. When they grew older, they started dating.
"Nonna's" collaboration on "Ordinary Things" was not the first in her granddaughter's discography. The "Frank Meets Babe" video was used at the end of "Daydreamin'," alongside Frank Grande's declaration. Also, a home recording of a conversation between her and the singer was used at the beginning of "Bloodline."

What did Ariana Grande say?
Ariana was very close to her Nonna, as she mentioned in previous interviews. In 2018, Marjorie joined the singer on stage, along with Joan and Lani, Ariana's cousin. During a performance of "God Is a Woman," the four women held hands, joining the crowd's celebration.
Ariana Grande only reposted her mother's stories on her Instagram account and has not published anything yet related to her Nonna's passing. However, Frankie J. Grande, Ariana's brother and actor, shared a loving post saying goodbye to the matriarch of the family, alongside some personal photos of him and the woman.
