Tesla recall: Power steering assist issue impacts 380,000 cars in the U.S.
The company Tesla is having some issues with their vehicles, as some of them are malfunctioning.

On Friday, Tesla, the company owned by Elon Musk, announced the recall of more than 375,000 electric cars in the U.S. Apparently, certain vehicles had a power steering problem that might have caused many accidents, especially crashes. Some owners have been reporting the malfunctions of their Tesla cars since 2016.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall is for certain 2023 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. These cars were running older software, which explains why they faced an overvoltage breakdown, potentially overstressing motor drive components on the printed circuit board, as the agency argued.
How does this Tesla recall impact owners?
Tesla said that if the overstress condition of its vehicles occurs while in motion, steering remains unaffected, and it triggers a visual alert. But once the car stops, the steering assist could potentially fail and remain disabled when it moves again. To address the situation, Tesla has released a free over-the-air software update.
Rectifying this problem will prevent the risk of accidents. To this date, no crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to this issue have been reported. However, the owners of the affected Model 3 and Model Y vehicles are encouraged to contact Tesla customer service or the NHTSA for more information regarding the recall and the available software update. In addition, they will receive notification letters by March 25, 2025.
Previous recalls of Tesla vehicles
This recent event only adds to Tesla's history of addressing vehicle issues through recalls. In January 2025, the company recalled approximately 239,000 vehicles due to faulty rearview cameras.
Despite this inconvenient situation, the market and the public are anticipating the release of Tesla's new lower-cost electric vehicle model later this year, which could positively influence the company's performance and investor sentiment.
