Actor Eric Dane announces he has ALS but will continue filming HBO’s 'Euphoria' Season 3. The 'Grey’s Anatomy' star shared his health news and requested privacy.

Actor Eric Dane, known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, has revealed he’s been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a progressive nervous system disease.
Despite the diagnosis, Dane shared that he is planning to return to the set of HBO's Euphoria next week as production for Season 3 continues.

Eric Dane shares ALS diagnosis with fans
The 52-year-old actor shared on an exclusive interview with People Magazine that he is battling with ALS. However, he mentioned how important was his family support for him during this challenging time.
“I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.”
What is ALS?
According to Mayo Clinic, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease (for the baseball player who was diagnosed with it), is a nervous system disease which "affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord".
It is a degenerative disease as it gets worse over time, and causes loss of muscle control.

Eric Dane on 'Euphoria' season 3
The Grey's Anatomy alumni plays Cal Jacobs on Euphoria, and told People Magazine he will still be able to work on the series and looks forward to rejoining the cast in the third season.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week,” he said. “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
